The current animal shelter serving the Warren area was built in 1974 as a temporary holding facility for stray animals. It was never designed for the well-being of animals, yet strives daily - under very difficult conditions - to care for the abandoned animals in its keep.
With only 1,020 square feet, the current facility is wholly inadequate to meet the needs of our community and the welfare of these animals. It is cramped and overcrowded, lacks proper ventilation, is badly in need of repair...and worse, lies in a flood plain. The animals in our care deserve better!
